The Wallflowers

(I loooove that hat!)

Marymoor was a fun show to be at. Really laid back, on a nice, but not uncomfortably hot summer day. Overall I just chatted here and there. I scoped out my seat, but I thought I should go back to get some Wallflowers swag at the other end of the venue. After doing so, I started walking back to my seat, but for some reason I looked behind me and I saw Rami! I ran up to him like a freak. He was walking along with 2 other people (not sure if they were acquaintances or not so I didn't want to take up too much of his time). First I waved and said "hello." He told me I was wearing a nice shirt (alas the Wallflowers shirt flattery from the Wallflowers never get old). I asked him if the guys were planning to hang out after the gig to meet with fans. He said sure, of course, definitely and pointed over behind the fence area as an indication of where to be.

Kristin Hoffmann was the opening act from New York. She started her set a bit late. It wasn't that bad really. Some kinda mix between Joni Mitchell, Sheryl Crow, and Tori Amos. She played both the piano and guitar. Her other band member played various instruments. Can't really recall all the songs she did, "Home", "Falling" (her favorite), "Easy," as well as a Joni Mitchell cover. Funny thing is that she keeps going in to explain her songs, opposite really of Jakob Dylan who leaves things up to be interpreted.

The Wallflowers played for roughly an hour and 30 minutes. Into which they stuffed in 18 songs. Here they are along with some notes:

1. Here He Comes
2. Three Marlenas
3. We're Already There
-- Jakob asked how the crowd was doing and noticed a Minnesota Twins cap or shirt and mentioned how he was a sports fan.
4. Nearly Beloved
5. Closer To You
6. Back To California
-- At this point I brought out my sign requesting "God Says Nothing Back" it didn't get played that night but Jake did say "I love that one."
7. Beautiful Side Of Somewhere (I was quite amused with the dancing people on the sides of the stage. Eventually they came into the area between the chairs and the stage, so I made my move and ran up to front and center)
8. Josephine (the crowd loved this one. The performance got interrupted for me for a moment when security asked us to back away from the electrical wires hanging off the stage. Eventually the guy moved and I had a clear view again).
9. Letters From The Wasteland
-- Jake looked into the crowd and said "Oh my God, you're taking pictures. No no. I love pictures. Just let me get ready first. Are you ready? Did you get it?" I'm so glad he said this so I started taking more pictures without fear security would take my camera away. He also joked about how we all looked better back there (meaning in our seated area). I was wondering when the crowd would become alive and at least stand up.
10. Sleepwalker
11. The Passenger
12. After The Blackbird Sings (Yay)
13. I Am A Building
-- At this point I let a woman in front of me to give Jakob this sea shell bracelet. He even put it on, and it just kinda stayed there for the night. "It's really pretty." Haha Jakob. The crowd also screamed for a drum solo, which I wouldn't have minded, but Fred didn't really do one.
14. All Things New Again
-- Jakob looked at the guy next to me again and asked if he was a hippy. He responded "from the 70s" and a moment later asked "did you drop some acid tonight maybe?" "Did I drop some acid?" I couldn't hear what else he said since the crowd muffled out his answer. I'm pretty sure he didn't. LOL. Then he looked at a guy behind me. "What happened to your shirt? It's gone. You're feeling that confident. You're thinking I'm gonna rock out no shirt. An explosion of crowd High-5s occurred. Rami came out and that caused me to panic as the taller people around me buried me in their sea of arms.
15. One Headlight (it took awhile for the singing to start as Jakob was still talking to the crowd)

**ENCORE** (the Roadie reloaded Jake's guitar pics and dumped a few out onto the stage in front of me. Goodness, I could've been crushed! I tried feeling for one, but no success. The kind gal standing next to me though gave me one (thank you)).

16. Everything I Need
17. If You Never Got Sick

We like the llamas.

-- The hippy guy next to me said that Jakob should wear these sunglasses an audience member gave him. He basically thought Jake looked stoned. "You think everybody looks stoned. What's with your shirt?" (it was tye-dyed) Basically he said something to the effect that they were so over. He eventually gave Rami the sunglasses. Both Rami and Greg were given hats. Greg didn't stay with his for long since I guess Stuart (or someone else) said it made him look like a golfer. Rami put his little white hat on though. He was so fun to watch throughout the night. I wonder how different the shows would be if they actually gave him a mic. The guys were sort of wondering what to close the show with and with Greg's suggestion it was...
18. The Difference

After the show I stuck around hoping for an actual setlist instead of the doodles I made on a post it. Unfortunately that didn't happen.

I had such a good time I didn't even really think about the pain my body has been in lately. Maybe it was a good thing they had seated chairs to sit through the opening act. The cool breezes were nice too.

There's still more photos to sort through.
However, I finally have the video up which includes
"Josephine" & "The Difference." Just to warn you it's quite loud and
the screaming during "The Difference"....I swear it's not me.
