My brother and I headed out to the venue quite a bit later than I had hoped to, especially knowing there would be 2 gigs they would try to keep things on schedule. I had tickets for the earlier show and walked in during opener Eliot Morris' set. I visited his site quickly before I headed out. It wasn't bad.

Above: Eliot Morris
Below: Ben Peeler

When I finally found a spot where I could actually see the stage I thought that Eliot looked a little bit like Pete Yorn (maybe it's the withdrawl and everyone starts reminding me of him). Surely sounded like him when he was talking. Vocally though it was smoother sounding and the music in general was more rootsy. I thought "what they hay" I'll go ahead and try to pick up one of his cds. With the Yorn look-a-like there was also a guy on the lap steel that I thought looked an awful lot like Ben Peeler. I don't know that many lap steel players, but he's one of them. I couldn't really confirm my suspicions until the end of the set when Eliot introduced him. Yup, last time I saw him was with the Wallflowers at the EMP.

After the set I tried to look for my friend Kevin. 5 feet away I was waving, but darn being so short. I did eventually make my way around to a nice spot by the front of the stage and the hallway which led out to a back door. It's my favorite spot at the Tractor since it's the only place you can really get fresh air and see who's walking around.

The roadie came along and plopped down the setlists. Within a short while the band came out, then Anna Nalick. She's really is quite the live performer for someone who is still pretty young. Working the songs, stage, and audience. Kicking around with the green eye shadow she wore for the crowd. Below is the setlist with notes.

Citadel

Paper Bag - after which Anna expressed about how this was her first headlining show in awhile since she was touring around with Rob Thomas I believe.
Forever Love (Digame)
- beautiful song
Consider This - about her love who turned out to be a jerk. I enjoyed this song because it showcases the sultriness in her voice.
In My Head - before this one she explained how she had to stand in line with the rest of the crowd to get into the venue. This is when she overheard one of the concert goers saying that she looked just average so she turned around and said she thought she looked pretty. That was hilarious. Then she got carded and was asked where her ticket was. Hehe.
Dreams (Fleetwood Mac cover) - Awesome cover. I was hoping maybe for "6th Avenue Heartache," but hey I'm not complaining. I think "Dreams" is one of the best songs out there. She had a cheat sheet of the lyrics by her feet. "It's how I got through school."
Home - Have never heard this song before, but it was really nice.
Satellite - This song was crossed out on the setlist. Such a shame...since it's my favorite song!
Wreck Of The Day - "if you ever find yourself in a place you don't want to be, get out" Stunning!
In The Rough - Canada doesn't have many Starbucks, but we do! She stocked up and got one at each. Hearing this one live just confirms the fact that she's just someone you have to see in concert.
Breathe (2am) - started off acoustically and ended with everyone singing along.
Bleed
+++ encore +++
Hangin' - this one was unfamiliar to me
Catalyst - ended on this nice slow number

Overall a wonderful performance by this young rising musician (and great band), who I hope will be around for a long time.
