Macy Gray
Soloman Burke
August 30, 2003 - Bumbershoot - Seattle, WA

So my brother and I got our tickets to see one of our favorite musicians Macy Gray. It's so rare that we both equally enjoy the same music to the same extent especially in concert. We got there pretty early and managed to survive the heat, the walk, and the parking garage price shock.

We walked around and saw a sign that Macy Gray was autographing cds. I checked the time and assumed that we were too late and headed back to the Memorial Stadium music stage. Everyone was sitting on the side of the bleachers with shade. Smart move. When we entered Solomon Burke just began his set. He's pretty bluesy groovy and got the crowd worked up well.

During that time I finally saw the loooong line that Macy was working with autographs. Kinda debating whether to go or not. Eventually I did.

I was standing in line wondering if I had to buy a cd in advance. Which I did, so a woman offered to save my place. Of course she took that opportunity to get something else signed and did not save my spot. Security was wrapping up the place so guess where the cut off line was for autographs. Me. I didn't give up though and could tell that the two other girls behind me weren't either. I talked with the security and said that we were hidden behind these two big guys. How on earth could they see us and to let Macy decide whether she wanted to meet us. Thankfully, Macy was kind and did come through for the three of us. All I could manage to say was "Thank You" before they security pushed me aside. Some more waiting and then I headed down to get closer to the stage.

The concert was amazing. Certainly one of the funner (is that an official word?) ones that I went to. You couldn't help but dance or sway. Or strip as Macy had encouraged "all the sexy people out there" to do. She did plenty of improv.

Here's some of the songs she did perform:
Do Something
Sex-O-Matic Venus Freak
I've Committed Murder
Relating To A Psychopath

Sexual Revolution (fan request)
Caligula
When I See You
She Ain't Right For You
Why Didn't You Call Me
(my favorite)
I Try

I took pictures with my new spiffy digital camera. Gosh I love it.
