My favorite look...the beaver teeth.

So tonight I went to see Lifehouse for the 4th time. This was by far the most intimate performance I've been to theirs yet, but it was still crowded as heck. I begged my brother to leave the house earlier since we didn't know where the venue was. We ended up at this building, which we thought might be the place...but it turned out it was a gay bar. Just a block over or so was the actual venue. It's kind of hidden and out of the way, but there was already a massive line to get in. They opened the doors 20 minutes later than they had stated. Even so I managed to get a decent spot inside and had my brother hold my place while I poked around the venue. I stole one of the band's promotional mini posters from the bathroom window.

Back at my spot I looked around the crowd. There seemed to be a pretty good mixture of people with this being an all ages show. Many just kept snapping photos. I kept a closer guard on my stuff since you can never be too careful. There was some pot in the air, but that ended after the opening act was done (thank goodness).

The opening act, Rocco something was something I could've done without. He had a decent voice that could hit the falsettos, but that was about it. He had 2 drummers. One at your typical drum set and another on bongos. The only 2 songs I liked of theirs had a heavy bongo element in the music (I love the sound of those) and the creeping of the pedal steel guitar was beautiful...only until Rocco started singing again. Darn.

Lifehouse had a camera man following them around. Apparently this also happened down in Portland. Perhaps for some live dvd. Well, when the band got on stage they were blinded by a parade of lights. Goodness. Sure Jason Wade is hot, but pleaseeee. Of course I couldn't resist taking a few pics, but most of them didn't turn out since the digital speed of my film was really low and images were really blurry.

I tried keeping a setlist by myself, but it kinda got a bit messed up. Here's the actual setlist that I got from a crew member after the show after much begging. It's the drummer (Rick's) setlist.

Come Back Down
Blind
Days Go By
Take Me Away (Love love LOVE this song)
The End
Only One
Sick Cycle
Breathing (oddly not a big crowd pleaser as I thought it would be)
You And Me (the crowd went nuts over this ballad instead)
Just Another Name (this was pretty cool as it started out as mostly Jason then the rest of the band came in. His vocals shined on this one)
Am I Ever Gonna Find Out
Undone
Better Luck
Spin
Everything

ENCORE:
Somewhere In Between
Hangin By A Moment

(no "Revolution Cry" but I heard it was rarely done)

As the band was performing I was on the side of the touring guitarist. He looked very familiar and it was Ben Carey! I flipped out! I'm still that obsessive Savage Garden freak and I remembered that he toured with those guys. Not to mention being in Tal Bachman's "She's So High" video. I thought that was so cool. Didn't get to see his unique hairdo as he kept it under a cap all night. Despite the heat.

Jason did chat with the crowd a bit and was very sweet. One of the stories that got stuck in my head was when he mentioned that he moved down to California and had to live with all of these other guys and to get any writing done he had to do it in the bathroom. That's where "Sick Cycle Carousel" was born. A little too much info for me, but as long as his songs have substance. They may have religious undertones to their music, but it's not blatantly obvious which I enjoy about them.

Overall I had a pretty good night. I was feeling a bit sick at times with the chest pains. Well, that's about it.
