The Killers
British Sea Power
October 12, 2005 - Key Arena - Seattle, WA

Off to see The Killers!

Inside we took our seats. Close to the stage, but with the extreme side view and these 2 annoying chords or something hanging down the ceiling blocking views for anyone flanking the sides of the stage.

British Sea Power was okay. Sort of in the same vein as The Strokes. Probably won't be rushing to buy their cd anytime soon. They already started when we got there. They put on quite a show. Full band including a venturing drummer who got himself tossed out into the audience below. Fancy light gobos and a guitarist dragging his instrument by a broken string. That's about it I guess.

During the intermission the place started filling up more, but it was much too big a place for the Killers to be playing. I thought about getting food, but everything seemed too darn expensive for such poor quality. I hadn't at this point eaten for a whole day so I was getting tired. It didn't help that they were playing Frank Sinatra and Shirley Bassey. I love those 2, but at that moment I was starting to pass out. Probably would've if people didn't keep trying to get past us.

The stage looked kind of interesting. The backdrop and amps were foiled silver with blue lights on the side. Very pretty when everything reflected.

I'm not too familiar with all of the Killers' songs, but they probably played everything off their cd. They of course did all the singles and so forth. I was a bit disappointed in the sound quality. Brandon's voice got lost constantly among the rest of the band's playing. One thing I did appreciate is that they didn't try to milk out the singles by extending them. That's just a sign that they wouldn't have enough faith in their other songs. Or that's just how I see it with other bands. They also covered "Moonage Daydream" by David Bowie and ended their final show in the US with "All These Things..."

It was kind of cute when Brandon came back out during the encore he had this huge heart on the back of his jacket. He really moved around the stage too. As always I love watching the drummers. Ronnie was good too.

After the show got out it was fun to walk back down to my brother's car as a group of people were singing "I've got soul, but I'm not a soldier."

So it was an okay show. Could've been better if the sound was fixed. Perhaps concerts in arenas should be outlawed.
