Jakob Dylan
T-Bone Burnett

June 11, 2006 - Moore Theatre - Seattle, WA

Let me go first off in saying I think a few little birds have been reading my posts or something. This was done at 3am the day of the show.

Did he do "God Says Nothing Back"? Yes.
Did he talk about the Wallflowers? Yes.

More on that later.

At the Moore the wasn't much of a line when I got there, but I was still able to get some seats over in the front row. I saw some nice familiar faces.

The show started a bit late. I don't know if that had any affect on the length of Jakob's show, but dang, that's the quickest 35 minutes I've ever sat through. Yet also one of the most glorious. As I sat there my eyes didn't have anywhere to really dart around to other band members seeing what they were doing. Well, with the exception of Patrick Warren on keys. He's probably a fantastic keyboardist in his own right, but compared to having someone who's played by your side for well over a decade who's hands just glide over the ivories...put it simply this is where I missed Rami a little. However, this allowed me to focus on Jakob's voice (to whom he himself said it was nice not having to compete). I have noticed that over the years his singing has greatly improved with a nice smoothness to it.

Okay okay I'll get to it and say he looked as great as he sounds. Wearing a nice suit and shirt.

I'm glad that the official Wallflowers site has been keeping up to date by posting setlists so I can just sit back and enjoy the show. Like usual they mix up the song list a bit, but for the Seattle show in particular we got a few new ones. Throughout I was mouthing along (something I've been trying to stop - second nature I guess), but I was in some state of mind. It seemed like I had some sort of a stroke as my mouth didn't really match up.

Letters From The Wasteland
- did I mention that I love (breach). The "ooh"ing at the end gave me chills.
How Far You've Come - a wonderful newer selection. I think this fit perfectly with the solo acousticness.
God Says Nothing Back - this was the first ever performance of this song live. I was so shocked! It was a whole mixed bag of emotions. Sadness, happiness, and on top that off with my little convulsions. I thought I might die from happiness right there. So unexpected. Just have to say it was a good thing I was sitting down. Hands down one of the best performances of a single song I've ever heard.
Thank you Jakob, thank you.
Mourning Train - another (breach) lovely.
Jakob: he introduce keyboardist Patrick Warren

How Good It Can Get - we'll make a lover....out of you yet.
Jakob: he thanked everyone for coming out. Talked about the weather and said he loved the weather here and was disappointed when the sun came out that day. He also told us that T-Bone's band is one of the best he's ever watched.
Here He Comes (Confessions of a Drunken Marionette) - I love this one as well. I'm glad it made it to the list.
Jakob: he mentioned how quiet we all were.
Empire In My Mind - I loved the end where he was belting out.
Jakob: he once again thanked the crowd. He was tuning his guitar and was taking a bit of time saying to someone off stage that he was almost done. Then he addressed it. Of course he seemed to look in the direction of all of us die hards in the front row when he talked about if we were wondering why he was playing alone that night. He said that The Wallflowers will be back before you know it and that they were just all over the place doing their own things. To which all of us up front just cheered.

I apologize for the buzzing from the footage. Once again too close to the speakers. Oh and the lack of images. Really, you should see him in person anyways. :)

I sat there for a moment as a happy little clam and then of course heard nothing but praises from the crowd. Just perfection for that chunk of time.

T-Bone and his 4 piece band came out and T said he was glad that we've all showed up and that he wasn't sure (since he was gone so long) if more than 10 people would show up. I couldn't tell you the setlist since I'm unfamiliar with his music. However, I did hear a few that I'll definitely have to iTunes later or something. It was a bit deafening as I was by the speakers so the level of distortion bothered me a bit throughout the performance.

T-Bone

Through T's show I could see into the wings of the stage where I saw Jakob pass by a few times. I wasn't sure if he'd come out during the encore as he had done at a couple of previous gigs, but still seeing him around it gave me hope. Finally 3rd song into the encore Jakob came out to do "Invisible City." Not sure what to expect. If this would be a duet or what, but it was just Jakob singing and T playing along with his band. It was wonderful. Sadly some of the crowd had to filter out before this happened. Then I think the band played one more song and then the evening was put to an end a little after 11pm.

Hung around a bit seeing if Jakob would be coming out. We didn't. Only saw T-Bone boarding his bus. Saw Tim though, the infamous tour manager to whom I said "hi." He quickly smiled and went on his business not giving any hint whatsoever on if Jakob had already left. LOL. With that we decided to go home.
