I was excited to see Duncan at the Triple Door again (naturally) so I got there when doors were going to open. It's amazing how many people got in line after a drive around the block to find free street parking. Anyways, while waiting inside a fellow Duncan fan that I had met at one of the previous shows invited us up the line. I still don't understand the seating procedures at the Triple Door. You really don't know where you are going to sit or who with so I'm glad that I was found to share one of the booths. I guess you can say we had pretty good seats, there was a tall person in front of me, so I guess that would explain the head in my photos. Haha. I was asked about my favorite Duncan song from the album and I had to go with "Earthbound Starlight." Will it be played? I don't know as I've not looked at any of the reviews for this tour (for surprise) and things could always be switched. The second night we were seated right behind where we were the night before. It was a higher level with less obstruction.

(DS night 2)

My photos kind of suck since my new camera got spilled on with water. It's still functioning, but it has a little blur issue. I'm still in denial about the situation so I kept adjusting to different camera settings under the table to see what worked best. If at all.

(Holly Brook tuning before "Saturdays")

The opening act(s) were nice. Unfortunately I really didn't know all of the songs so I neglected to keep track. Calculating songs per the buck, night 1 was the better deal. Louis Schwadron did 2 more songs from his Sky White Tiger. The other difference was that drummer and bass player were not present in the opening set on the 2nd night. Each did a couple of songs each jumping around on the instruments. It was refreshing to see this group without any egos coming together to create, influence, learn, and support each other. One of the standouts was Holly Brook's "Saturdays" played both nights. Quite poppy in sound, but I like everything and looking forward to her new cd, which is being produced by Duncan (but I'm sure you all already know that). Strange that Holly's cd was not for sale at the show, but I picked one up last time. The only song I'm certain Lauren did was "Wasted In Jackson." Ben Kalb was also there for cello/backup duties for both nights.

(Lauren Pritchard)

(Louis and Ben)

I'll toss together a review of the two nights in together. Duncan's set was the same with the exception of different banter. This was a little disappointing I'll have to admit. I know that the chunk from Spring Awakening / The Whisper House would probably remain the same, but I was wanting to hear some of his other songs for the remaining time. Although I loved the ones he did choose to perform. How could any girl not feel warm and fuzzy after hearing "For You"?

This is the setlist. I didn't keep track the first night, but the second night I became the nerd with a pen and my ticket confirmation page taking notes.

(DS night 1 - w/ GL)

For You - *sigh*
Wishful Thinking - I was really surprised to hear this one. Gerry Leonard was freakin amazing.
Such Reveries

Spring Awakening Set: On the first night he explained that when they were trying to figure out what songs from they wanted to incorporate into the tour within their requirements:  no expletives or required gestures. That got a big "awww" from the audience. He also asked where the show played (The Paramount) and said that this would be more intimate.
Mama Who Bore Me - Sung by Holly Brook
Touch Me - With Holly Brook & Lauren Pritchard. I have to say on the 1st night it looks like she was wearing a costume right from Spring Awakening.
The Dark I Know Well - Holly Brook & Lauren Pritchard on vocals. This was kind of funny on night 2. After the song ended Duncan was amused about the fact that we clapped of the incest song. Then they went off on a tangent of wondering how clapping got started. Holly was giving her insight and suggested someone get on their iPhone to look that up. Lauren just started laughing so hard about how crazy this conversation was getting and ran off the stage. Even so Duncan started the next song and she appeared in time for her part.
I Don't Do Sadness - Featuring Lauren of course. I love this song and it's nice to hear Duncan's version.

(Night 1 "Spring Awakening" set during "Don't Do Sadness")

She Runs Away - I was really shocked to hear this one as well. The cello and clarinet brought such a richness into the live performance and I'm glad that they were there.

The Whisper House Set:
It's Better To Be Dead - (With Holly Brook) Holly I thought was a nice vocal compliment to Duncan's here.
We're Here To Tell You
The Tale Of Solomon Snell - On night 1 Duncan gave us a little history lesson about those infected with Yellow Fever being buried alive clawing at the top of their caskets so they ended up tying a string to their finger and on the other end is a bell they could ring if they were still alive. Morbid. But great.
Earthbound Starlight - Yes! He did do it! Unfortunately on both nights it's when the waiters decide to check in on you and give you your bill for dinner.
We Don't Believe In You
Take A Bow

(DS night 1 view of the entire stage)

Encore:
On A High - I loved the intro into this. How to describe it but "cute."
Fake Plastic Trees - With Schwadron joining in on backing vocals

(DS night 2 - w/ GL)

Overall I love the fact that I can sit down at the venue and eat, but to have service throughout the show...I don't know. Would it have been rude to ask the waiters to not bother us while the show was going on? Clang of plates here and there. Still, this is probably less annoying than having that person behind you at a show who won't stop talking about their personal life. You know the one.

We waited around for Duncan on both nights, but he never showed up. Actually we stood around until there was no one else around, but that felt kind of silly so we left. We saw Holly, Lauren, Louis, and Ben roaming around though. Not that I had the dire need to meet Duncan again, but if I did I finally would know what I wanted to talk about instead of becoming all speechless and in awestruck. My brother and I are musical fans as well, and we both wondered why "Purple Summer" was not chosen for the Spring Awakening set. It's fitting towards their song requirements. It's beautiful number. Maybe next time, but I just felt that with this grouping it would be better suited.
